So, yeah, I haven't really used this that much lately so... DAVID'S SUPER-EVERYTHING UPDATE TIME!!! I've been drawing a lot more often lately, however I appear to have encountered some writer's block regarding Joel's Working Adventures. That tends to happen when you kill the main character! I've quit my job at the Deli 'cause the schedule was too erratic (one shift every two weeks!?) and I am now looking for another job. The Calgary Stampede recently gave me $50 for my opinion, and the government gave me $60 'cause working at a Deli doesn't pay very much. I was explaining tablets to my Mom and she offered to order me one through her work for $80 less than retail, so I'm going to get one of those soon. I know I'm not exactly an artist, but I like what I draw. Signing up for University courses was junky 'cause practically every course was full and had no waiting list. To give you an idea, I'm going to have to do Spring/Summer University in order to get into some of my compulsory courses. HOWEVER! I found a secret course which is all about learning how to kill people with poisons. Seriously. It's the course I'm most looking forward to, but it's in my Winter semester. I am now part way through a short story to add to my creative writing portfolio. That will be item number three. I'm not very good at coming up with short story ideas, and I've only ever done poetry for Zombie week. (The other two items were Zombie week poems.) So... Yeah, I guess that's enough of an update for now. Tags: events

I normally try to keep my LJ a happy place, but this is an exception so don't read on if you don't like reading somebody's complaining. I think I managed to injure my back yesterday, I say this because this morning I awoke with a horrid pain in my lower back. I decided to persevere, after all this would be my final day of training at my job. After doing all my morning things I decided to soak in the Jaccuzzi tub and put one of the jets onto the part of my back which was giving me the trouble. I must have been in there for two hours for so. After I got out I realized that I had missed my bus, even though I still had a long period of time before I was due at work the #15 bus doesn't run all that frequently during the day. Checking the bus schedules I learned that the #52 was due in 15 minutes. I knew that it generally takes me 10 minutes to walk to the #52 bus stop so I decided to give it a go... What I forgot to consider was that I generally run most of the way to the stop, and part of my preferred path involves hopping a low fence, neither of which I could do with my back as it was. So I walked, so I missed that bus as well. I now had 30 minutes to make it to work. I decided to give walking a go since I knew that I could walk into Shawnessy in 40 minutes starting from my house. I had already covered some distance so I decided to power-walk the rest of the way, despite growing protests from my back. I don't know if it was physical exertion, or if some new plant had started pollinating, but I got an asthma attack. My first in a long while. Because it was my first in a long while I didn't have my ventolin, which meant that I had to get on another bus to go home and get my medication. By the time I got home I almost couldn't breathe, it felt like I was suffocating. I took my ventolin and stood in the bathroom with the shower running and I managed to recover. However, I was now far too late to go to work so I had to reschedule my last day of training... That will be on July 4th. And I can't work until then, which means that I might have to look for another job since I only have so much summer to work in. Not a fun day. Tags: events

My computer died, and so I had to get another. As a result I was away from the internet for a long while, but I am back. Since I've been gone for so long this entry will be very long. Each paragraph is its own topic. I'm terrible at obtaining jobs... Not even with recommendations from workers can I be hired! Mark's a real pain about it, he's managing one of those Student Painting outfits for the summer and as a result is exceedingly busy and he seems to resent that I'm not working. However! I am going to submit another batch of applications soon! I've done a whole bunch of work in and around the house, preparing it to go on the market. I doubt that we'll be putting it up any time soon, I'm guessing that we're going for a winter sale. We need to replace the carpet in the living room, which will be a pain. I'm suggesting that we do it with laminate 'cause I love laminate. Today was double-discount day at Chapters/Indigo. I bought another four books. I bought two books earlier in the week. I HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM!!! I decided to pick up the third Card Captor Sakura manga 'cause I'm lame like that. I've already finished it. I've now started reading a novel called "The Lies of Locke Lamora" which is quite good so far. I'm not used to reading so many swears though, Fantasy novels generally avoid them with fun phrases like "he muttered an oath" but most characters in The Lies of Lock Lamora seem to have made it their goal to use the F word in every sentence. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is an amazing game series. The Longest Journey is a good game series, but could be better. My D&D group is playing through the published setting "Expedition to Castle Ravenloft". This is the hardest D&D campaign I have ever been involved in. Every single battle can easily kill you, the game attempts to prevent your characters from sleeping, failed saves can mean instant death, and you get no money and hardly any items. The items that you do get can't be used unless you do a side-quest, and even then you don't know what it does. The game actually has battles which are supposed to be impossible, and they try to force you into them! Dungeons and Dragons Tactics for the PSP comes out next month. Dylan is making me purchase it, but I'm more excited about Final Fantasy Tactics A2, WHICH HAD BEST BE MORE LIKE FINAL FANTASY TACTICS THAN FINAL FANTASY TACTICS ADVANCE!!! Final Fantasy Tactics is also coming out for the PSP soon, and that needs to be purchased because it's one of my favorite games and I lost my PS1 memory card. I'm going to Yuk Yuks this week to watch my brother Steven preform. If you have money you should check it out. Wednesday is the day for new comedians, or veteran comedians trying out new material (My brother fits into the latter category) so don't expect too much. I will be there though, and I will be giving free high-fives. I have accomplished all my prep work and will be begin on my novel itself in a matter of days. That leaves me with three months of writing for novel #3. Better than the 1 month that I'm used to! The plan is to write 1-2 mostly finished novel a year, and then actually do a novel for publication once I get my English degree. I didn't go to Ota-Fest this year, due to D&D on Saturday and a headache on Sunday. Headache + Hyper Japanophiles = Not Fun. I only wanted to go to buy, like, one thing and say hi to my High-School friends and Gabe anyway. Tags: events, summary Current Mood: tired Current Music: Algus - Final Fantasy Tactics OST

My Dad wants to sell the house. Too big, and too much work for him in his old age. I do what I can to help, but when I'm at my Mom's then it's all on him, so I can understand why he wants to sell. I'm not sure how I feel about this... I believe that is his decision, and I'm willing to support him regardless of what he decides but... Well, I grew up in that house, you know? I know that it's just a house, there aren't any memories stored in its walls that I can't store in my mind, so maybe it's silly to feel so much loss over it, but the sense of loss is very prevolent. It's just... Ugh, this post was supposed to help me organize my thoughts and feelings on the matter, but it's too hard to put into words. Lets see... What's happened since I've last posted about my life... I've actually applied for jobs now! So I should have one in no time.* I've started working on the novel that I want to work on over the summer. I'm mostly in the world building stage, but I think that I've got a really good plot up in my brain right now. I've redecorated my room (Mostly) including (Mostly) putting together a bookshelf from Ikea. I haven't been playing video games! I've been hanging out with Gabriel! I taught myself how to play (most) of a song on the piano. Considering the last time I had touched a piano was when I was 8 or 9 this is fairly impressive... Then again, Yuffie's Theme Song is pretty simple. I sort of got back into anime. Kinda. I finished a book and started a new one. The one I finished was truely great, but I have to wait another year before the sequel comes out, and then another year for the next sequel, before I know how it ends. WHY DO FANTASY AUTHORS ALWAYS WRITE IN TRILOGIES!?!? I have now decided not to write in trilogies. The book I've started is by Robin Hobb, therefore, true happiness. I made a map of Saelease, which is the world in which my novels are going to be set. It concentrates mosly on Sireth which is my main continent, and as a result doesn't even show Arinnia... That might be a good thing. I've decided to start doing public LJ entries. For what felt like a slow week + 1/2 week I sure did alotish. I've decided to do one of those things where I put down my bad habits and my goals. Bad Habits: 1) Biting my nails. 2) Being too narcissistic to figure out my flaws. 3) Hentai 4) Killin', Stabbin' and Guttin' 5) Making up four of my five bad habits. Goals for the Summer: 1) Get 10,000 words down for my novel! 2) Get a Job! 3) Finish all the books that I bought during the school year and never got a chance to read. 4) Umm... Finish Final Fantasy XII? 5) Umm... Finish making Gabe's Jello. *This is not true.Tags: events, musings Current Music: Shoggoth Prayer

Selfish post today. I need to post all the webcomics that I read on my laptop so that I can shove them into my bookmarks on my PC. I've decided to turn this into my top-ten list as well. 10: Infinity on 30 Credits a Day - http://www.infinityon30credits.net/This is being made at an incredibly slow pace, but gets on the list due to originality. (Communal webcomic!?) 9: XKCD - http://www.xkcd.comThis is only funny when you can understand the obscure jokes. 8: Chugworth Academy - http://chugworth.com/This would probably be higher up if he updated more often... Supposedly he updates three times per week, but that translates to about once every 2-4 weeks. 7: Scary-Go-Round - http://www.scarygoround.comAh, the British. Apparently they have the internet now! 6: 8-Bit Theatre - http://www.nuklearpower.comThis was once my favorite... When it was the only one that I read. 5: Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal - http://www.smbc-comics.com/#comicThis one is sort of set up like those Bizzaro comics... Only X times more hilarious. 4: Errant Story - http://errantstory.com/Fantasy + Humor = Awesome. Currently going through money problems, may go on an indefinite hiatus soon. This is the type of comic I love. Serious storyline, but with the characters making jokes and supplying plenty of humor along the way. 3: Flipside - http://www.flipsidecomics.com/Kay, let me sum it up the way that they do. It's about a nymphomaniac with split-personaility disorder. How can you not read it? I like this one for similar reasons as #4 2: Irregular Webcomic - http://www.irregularwebcomic.net/Pungasm. I flipped a coin to see which would end up in first and which in second. (Not really, but David Morgan-Mar has a livejournal so he might end up reading this some day.) 1: The Order of the Stick - http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscriptApparently it's the greatest webcomic ever. It's number one, isn't it? If anyone could hook me up with another great webcomic or two I'd be greatly appreciative. Preferably something along the lines of Errant Story or Flipside as far as genre.
